Canine Sunshine

Eckhart Tolle, author of The Power of Now and A New Earth, calls dogs "guardians of being," and with good reason. My mind stops chattering when I'm in the presence of a cat or dog. Or happen to notice a robin holding court from a bare branch on a misty morning.

Even just looking at this photo of Lilly, a regal and very cuddly Pyrenean Mountain dog, makes me notice my breath and feel appreciation both for her and my dear friend who cares for her with such devotion. And boy does it make me grateful for green grass and sunshine! Can I get an amen?

Lilly's purposeful gaze also seems to be checking in with my intentions:

How will you spend this day?

What will you give?

For what will you give thanks?

And will you allow yourself to bask in the glory of simply being?
